REDEFINING DIABETES
Conventional medical systems believe that type-2 diabetes is a forever disease - that once you get diabetes, the only way forward is to live with it; to manage it with medication and treatment. This approach also stresses on the genetic inevitability of the disease often ignoring the myriad of dietary and lifestyle factors that lead to type 2 diabetes. Here at harmony, we work towards identifying the root cause of the problem and fixing it there.
The major culprit of diabetes is the fast-carb diet, a highly refined grain-based diet. A standard Kerala diet produces standard diseases like diabetes, hypertension, obesity, cardio-vascular diseases, fatty liver and increased lipid profile.
Through our functional approach one learns what to eat, when to eat, and more importantly why should you eat that way. We look at lifestyle factors like lack of scientific exercise, quality sleep, poor gut health, emotional and mental challenges, hormonal imbalances that play significant roles in the onset of this metabolic disorder.

FUNCTIONAL APPROACH
The Functional approach is an individualized, patient-centered, science-based approach that empowers patients and practitioners to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness. It requires a detailed understanding of each patient’s genetic, biochemical, and lifestyle factors and leverages that data to direct personalized treatment plans that lead to improved patient outcomes.
By addressing root cause, rather than symptoms, practitioners become oriented to identifying the complexity of disease. They may find one condition has many different causes and, likewise, one cause may result in many different conditions. As a result, Functional Medicine treatment targets the specific manifestations of disease in each individual.
